PL150 review

At first glance, one might ask whether there is actually on the front panel display. It only becomes more visible when the camera is turned on. Otherwise, it is completely invisible, hidden in PL150 transparent wrap-around front panel and all-black surround.

Samsung LCD dual display was first available in ST500 and ST550, but have now made their way to the chambers of the company's point and shoot, including 12.4 megapixel PL150. In addition to front and rear screen, the PL150 has a 5x wide-angle zoom, which makes the £ 117 asking price seems more than reasonable.

You may think there some sort of distortion in the camera and aberration correction going on inside this unit, But it was done to taste, the wide-angle close-up is almost error free of distortion and color

It's not all PL150 can do. He has exceptional versatility 5x 27-135mm equivalent zoom, optical image stabilization, automatic scene detection and intelligent face detection that can detect faces automatically as you shoot most often and give them priority. Plus he has a blink-detection mode, which takes three shots instead of one, if the camera thinks the subject blinked.

The display will rapidly prove useful for portraits, group photos and filming sessions in which you want to speak directly to the camera. All these things can change so much easier when you can see what the camera sees. There is also a way "children", who plays the clown entertainment with engaging sound effects, tricks hyperactive children long enough, you can take a picture.

The LCD front panel comes in useful again in the self-timer mode, displays a visual countdown. There is also a "leap hour" mode that tells you when to switch to the camera. Okay, maybe there was too much floating in Asti Spumante Samsung's design department in the afternoon, but there is no shortage of ideas here.

It is a pity that Samsung could not have spent more time on image quality then. This is the 5x zoom which is the problem, and curiously, exactly the same problem as the PL80 frames (we want a review of this camera soon). Is this the same lens? It's hard to say because they cited the focal lengths are slightly different, as are the sensor size of the two cameras. However, the PL150 is the zoom has shown that the loss of quality even at full zoom which is PL80. It is more than just a little degradation. It's enough to make you think that the camera broke and must return to the store. But, no, it's the same on both devices, so it's just how it is.

Otherwise, the image quality of the PL150 is not bad for a 12.4-megapixel compact. There is very little distortion or chromatic aberration, and detail is strong enough, even at the edges of the image. It is only to increase the performance of the PL150 is falling.

Samsung PL150 front-mounted LCD screen is much more than just a novelty. It's actually very useful when taking pictures of yourself, a group photo or any other form of informal portraits. The device itself is also pleasant to use, comfortable to use and feels well. It's just a pity for the zoom.
