Advanced travel-compact market became more competitive in recent years with models such as the Lumix TZ20, Sony HX9V, Nikon S9100 and Canon SX220 all jostling for position and market share.
Clearly hoping to join the ranks of the elite of travel-compact, the Fujifilm 102 EXR is a feature-packed compact which builds on the strengths of the EXR F300 launched last year. However, in spite of being a descendant direct and almost identical to the F300 research, 102 is indeed very different inside.
Built around a 16-megapixel back-side light of newly developed CMOS sensor (as opposed to the chip of the F300's Super CCD 12 megapixels) 102 even improves on its predecessor with record Full HD film and the integrated GPS functionality that none was present on the EXR. F300 it however, retains the same objective 15 x zoom Fujinon which offers a focal range of 24-360 mm in 35 mm terms.
In a first look, 15 x zoom and functionality GPS marks the 102 as a camera that will especially appeal to photographers who are looking to their adventures with the exact location of the travel document data. But add to that the ability to save images as Raw files without loss and the 102 will appeal to lovers of photography looking for a digital compact advanced, or something more portable keep with them when a DSLR is impracticable. It meets it another promise? Let's look more closely and discover.
