It is not easy come with a unique feature for a budget camera, but Pentax has done it, with the RS1500 interchangeable front panel design. There are 13 included in the box, including a snakeskin effect a kitsch born in camera design and various abstract patterns. There is also a pack of five pre-cut, ready-to-print paper and even a browser based Web application to create your own designs. We found it surprisingly sophisticated but different bugs meant that we not our design printed to get.
These designs sit behind a plastic sheet in position held by the orange rubber lens ring - it is a black one to contain. Overall, the camera looks still like a budget model, but it has a funny charm. The 2.6.3in screen is welcome, although it not more detail is used screens as 2.7in elsewhere and something monotonous saw its colours. The silver on white button captions were hard to see some light, and the power button red dot makes it look like a video record button.
The video function is actually under the scene presets. The 720 p resolution is welcome, but clips are limited to 10 minutes. Auto-focus and optical zoom are set instead use for the duration of the clip, with the camera to a ugly digital zoom function. Wide angle barrel distortion suffered clips under heavy and soundtracks have been affected by a Fizz digital errors. Despite these shortcomings, it is still an improvement on other cameras VGA resolution videos.
